Want to pay respects of some sort to Mike Ponton. I knew him from Surratsville Sr. High School, and through my father's involvement in the Clinton, MD Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a great guy, made us all smile, and was a friend to my whole family. We all were lucky to have him here with us on Earth for so long. We had our own lives, went our own ways, etc. but he was never forgotten! See you again some day, Mike! Love yah, Sheila

I enjoyed the pictures. We moved to Clinton in 1964 and I graduated from Surrattsville HS in 1967 with Richard Whittington. I remember seeing the apparatus that are now retired while they were in service during the 60's and 70's. The pictures brought back fine memories of the annual parade.
I want to thank all of the Fire Fighters that has served and are serving the Clinton area and Prince George's County!

Member there in the 80's . Laura put together an album & gave me the brochures from the 75th. Sure wish I could've made it. Those were the best days of my life although I really never got bored till recently. Traveled the globe with the navy & spent many years traveling the eastern u. S. after a marriage crash. Lived half off the land.
We had an incredible bond back then & truth be told I'd still do anything I could for any of you. Ron b. apology accepted should you revisit here, though you probably owe me more than one. You did a lot for me too, a whole lot, so we can call it even buddy. I lived there almost four years so I certainly have a mess of good & dodgy memories.

Mom Mulligan & I have stayed in touch & had a few contacts after the 75th from others. Of course Gibby & I see each other every time they come down & saw sudik's a couple years back in unrelated reunion here near Tampa. I was real sad to hear about "Lurch" & his wife's accident. He'll get a good seat @ gods table. Can't name everyone & noone should be left out so I'll just say you know who you are &I love you all. I just got one of those Ipad things & I'm not used to this type keyboard yet. In fact this has been the most I've typed @ one time &this took forever.
For all of my brothers active today that I don't know, I'll keep you in my prayers & hope you can keep safe but still do it with balls !

I am so proud that I was a firefighter at Co.25 in Cinton Maryland. I also was proud to serve with my Dad, at Clinton. My Dad passed away November 2006, you guys called him "POP" Phil DeBruyn. I was one of the surviors of the crash on Oct23,1971. I moved to West Va., but still work in the Northern Va area as a SR. Tech for a Heating and Air Conditioning Co., American Residential Services.
Clinton Volunteer Fire Department was the love of my life and I am so honored CVFD made this great site. This has brought back many wounderful and memorable times at the fire house.
Thanks to all who serve there, thanks again
James DeBruyn [ JIMMY ]

THANKS & RECOGNITION: A. D. Martin & G. A. Denver came to my rescue on Route 5 on Sunday, June 17th. I had some furniture that I was taking to my grand daughter in Colonial Beach, Va when another driver waved me to the shoulder. I managed to get a chest of drawers off my truck but getting it back & everything properly secured was beyond this old lady's capacity! As driver after driver passed me by, I saw a rescue truck pull up behind me & these two gentlemen came toward me. They were kind enough to flip the recliner loveseat & place the chest more securely in place. Then they used the load straps, that I didn't know how to use, to tie the furniture down properly for me.
I thanked them & gave them my cell # because I have to move & need a home for my little Jack Russell Terrier. I don't know what I would have done had these two men not stopped & helped me. I have a great respect for fire/EMS/law enforcement personnel, having required the services of all three agencies in my life. Thanks to all of you but especially to these two angels who helped me out when they di6dn't have to.
